Stuff White People Like

The funniest blog on the web. One example.

Recycling is a part of a larger theme of stuff white people like: saving the earth without having to do that much.

Recycling is fantastic! You can still buy all the stuff you like (bottled water, beer, wine, organic iced tea, and cans of all varieties) and then when you’re done you just put it in a DIFFERENT bin than where you would throw your other garbage. And boom! Environment saved! Everyone feels great, it’s so easy!

This is important because all white feel guilty about producing waste. It doesn’t stop them from doing it, but they feel guilty about it. Deep down, they believe they should be like the Native Americans and use every part of the product or beast they have consumed. Though for many white people, this simply means putting plastic bags into a special drawer where they will accumulate until they are eventually used to carry some gym clothes or bathing suit. Ultimately this drawer will get full and only be emptied when the person moves to a new house. Advanced white recyclers will uses these grocery bags as garbage bags.

If you are in a situation where a white person produces an empty bottle, watch their actions. They will first say “where’s the recycling?” If you say “we don’t recycle,” prepare for some awkwardness. They will make a move to throw the bottle away, they will hesitate, and then ultimately throw the bottle away. But after they return look in their eyes. All they can see is the bottle lasting forever in a landfill, trapping small animals. It will eat at them for days, at this point you should say “I’m just kidding, the recycling is under the sink. Can you fish out that bottle?” And they will do it 100% of the time!

The best advice is that if you plan to deal with white people on regular basis either start recycling or purchase a large blue bin so that they can believe they are recycling.

“Call on Ron Paul Libertarians to Stay in the GOP”

The following is a post from Eric Dondero who runs Mainstream Libertarian, and Libertarian Republican. As background there is a certain degree of suspicion within the GOP that if Ron Paul is unsuccessful in his effort to win the nomination he might take the opportunity to stand as a “third Party” candidate.

This would have devastating consequences to the very real chance the Republicans have, to win the presidency again. They have very credible candidates in Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and probably Fred Thompson, and are gaining ground in grassroots campaigns across America.

Some Libertarians though have expressed an intention of joining the GOP in order to support Ron Paul, then leave again if he fails. If he were to stand as a third party candidate, he could take with him a great deal of the parties libertarian/Republican support.

It would be a terrible thing to see a man of his stature act as a spoiler.

John Quiggin praises libertarianism

John Quiggin is a prolific blogger, Queenslander and Economist. He is also a self proclaimed Social Democrat. I know that several of the participants here on the ALS blog also visit Johns blog from time to time. Recently as part of a charity fund raiser John agreed to shave off his beard and write a short essay on what he finds commendable about libertarianism. It is not quite cash for comment because he insisted that he would only say what he actually believed.

Catallaxy is back on deck (again)

… I realize people are going to start calling us Lazarus soon, but if it’s any consolation it’s because we’re getting more popular by the day.

New Liberal Democratic Party blogs

The federal party now has an official blog. This is an opportunity for you, the interested citizen, to have tangible input in a public way into the policies of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). You don’t have to be a member to comment, but if you like what you see, please do consider joining up. There is currently some interesting discussion happening on traffic laws and smoking.

Also, I’ve started a Victorian LDP blog in anticipation of some local LDP activity along with Steve Clancy and others, but that is unlikely to be updated until the end of November once my exams are out of the way. However, if any readers in Victoria are interested in getting involved with Australia’s only political party committed to real freedom, email me at ssabhlok[at]gmail[dot]com.
