Not Evil, Just Wrong: A Call To Arms!

There can be no doubt that every single Australian libertarian should be opposed to Penny Wong’s ETS. All of us should be doing anything in our power to stop this monstrosity from this job-killing, economy-destroying big government tax from becoming law. If passed, it will set a new precedent in government meddling right down to the household level, pave the stage for greater power to unelected bureaucrats, and will achieve nothing for the environment. Even if believe in anthropogenic global warming, there is no way you can believe this is the best way to proceed.

With a Senate vote on Australia’s economic death-sentence only a month away, now is the time for action.

Fortunately, in a little under 3 weeks, a groundbreaking major film will premiere worldwide that tackles the human cost of global warming head on. On October 18 Not Evil Just Wrong will premiere all over the world. And this will be a game-changer.

Made by Greener Horizon Films, producers of the critically acclaimed “Mind Your Own Business” (which many of you may have seen on its Australian tour), this is the first major movie on the true cost of global warming hysteria.

The Australian Libertarian Society is an affiliate of Not Evil Just Wrong, and every sale of this film through this webpage will directly help the ALS.

Not Evil Just Wrong applies rigorous investigative journalism and cutting-edge cinematographic techniques to create a documentary that is not only a compilation of scientific data regarding ‘climate change’, but also includes personal stories that highlight the very real danger of climate-change hysteria presents. This is no dry, scientific analysis: it is a personal look at the human cost of radical environmentalism. From the millions who have died in Africa due to anti-DDT pushes, to the jobs and lives that will be destroyed if cap-and-tax is passed around the world, for the first time environmentalist will be held to account.

Having watched the film, I can say without any doubt that it is brilliantly produced, funny, moving and very, very powerful. And defiantly worth watching.

So far the reaction to this film has been overwhelmingly positive: Australia’s Jennifer Marohasy wrote thatNot Evil Just Wrong is politically incorrect, compelling and spans several continents including Africa while exploring its subject matter with harshness and humour.” The National Post (Canada) reported that this is “a devastating account of … Mr. Gore’s brand of self-interested and hypocritical alarmism”. The Irish Times said that “If the advance publicity is anything to go by, Not Evil Just Wrong will do for Al Gore what Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 did for George W Bush.” says it “skewers global warming alarmists in the media and around the world”, and John Fund, writing in the Wall Street Journal , reviews how it takes on the hysteria over global warming and warns that rushing to judgment in combating climate change would threaten the world’s poor”. The list goes on.

On the left, the reaction has been slightly different – the UK Telegraph reports of death-treats against the producers, and such delightful emails as “It is one of my fondest hopes that whatever remnants of human civilization exists at the end of this catastrophe is able to put people like you on trial for crimes against humanity and give you the same treatment Hitler’s henchmen got at Nurnberg a long drop at the end of a short rope.” Says it all really.

Because obviously Hollywood didn’t want to distribute this film, filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney have a unique and I think rather fun distribution plan. In a world first, people can order “premiere packs” which will come with a DVD, a movie poster so they can have a home cinema and a piece of red carpet so they can have their own special premiere (although they can’t press play until the right time!)

The world-wide premiere is to be held on October 18 at 8pm, and the producers are calling for screenings in Australia at either 8pm on the 18th Australian time, or alternatively simultaneously with the US premiere, which works out as being at 10am Monday the 19th AEST. To those who screen it on the Monday AEST, the opportunity exists participate afterwords in an online discussion webcast with a panel of experts straight from Washington DC afterwords, where viewers would be able to email/facebook/twitter questions to the panel for instant updates.

So! On October 18th, make history and be part of an international movement with a Guinness World Record attempt to have the largest ever simultaneous film premiere! 🙂

Remember: for ever DVD sold through this blog, a percentage of the profits will be given  to the Australian Libertarian Society to promote freedom in Australia.

Already throughout the world families, non-profits, even unions are holding public screenings.  So join in! You can watch it at home, or you can attend one of the numerous public screenings that will be held around Australia. Better yet – make up your own screening and invite your friends!

From the EU Parliament in Brussles, to small towns in rural America, all over the world this film will be HUGE! And I say this quite seriously – I would not be spending my time promoting this if I thought otherwise.

I am currently coordinating screenings and sales around Australia. If you are interested in hosting a public screening – even if it’s just a few people – or are interested in helping promote this film in Australia, please send me an email to

In the meanwhile, go buy a DVD! 🙂

This is your chance to not only get a great DVD and be part of history, but directly support the ALS.

Here’s a trailer:

Also, you can watch a short clip from the film that includes comments by Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace and also one that features rather horrifying tales of brainwashed children. Or you can watch the Directors of this film interview – or at least attempt to interview – some radical left environmentalist filmmakers.

Writing last week for Quadrant, the producers quite rightly stated that “History has proven that radical environmentalists cannot be believed. Australians need to reject their nonsense”. Let’s work together to make that happen!

  1. Even if believe in anthropogenic global warming, there is no way you can believe this is the best way to proceed.

  2. Over on Libertarian International, there’s an article about a new party being formed, about climate scepticism, organised by someone called Leon Ashby. Who is he? He’s an Australian, but I’ve not heard about him before!

  3. There is a new Australian political party in the process of being formed based around opposition to climate-change hysteria.
Have had some dealings with them re promoting this film, but don’t know much about them other than it looks like they may well get registered before the next fed election…

  4. Hello there,

To answer Nuke Gray, “The Climate Sceptics” is a new political party being formed right now, based on accurate science, due process and logical thinking.

We welcome any opportunity to work with the Libertarians to fight global warming alarmism in Australia.

Perhaps we will have the chance to meet some of you at a screening of “Not Evil Just Wrong”, which we are very much looking forward to!

    Hope to see you there.

  5. I have.
Steve is extensively interviewed in the film on his original hockey stick findings.
I havn’t had a chance to read through this story in great detail, only skim through it, but if it’s accurate, is pretty big indeed!

  6. Hey Doods, No Warming?? Are you serious!!!????
I live in sydney, where we have just had the hottest September since records were started, over 150 years ago! Perth had the coldest September of its’ history, but the weather is still weird!!!!
You don’t have to be called Jarrah to think that the weather needs fixing!!!

  7. yea, Nuke, lets spend 1% of global GDP potential for the next 100 years (real cost by way) trying to turn the thermo down in Sydney and up in Perth.

I’m sure Rudd is able to achieve that. LOl.

  8. JC – I think you’ve misunderstood the latest findings by McIntyre. He isn’t saying no warming in the last 100 years (we have good instrumental records that confirm there has been warming). He is refuting the accuracy of the uptick at the end of the 1000 year temperature proxy record (the hockey stick that suggests that it is warmer now than at any other time in the last 1000 years). This record was created from tree ring proxies. He refutes it on the basis that the tree ring samples used at the end of the period were based on a small subset of the samples available and that the subset chosen appears to be subject to selection bias. He also argues that whilst this is only one of many such models most of the other models are somewhat related to this flawed one and they may all fall like dominos.

The earlier hockey stick issue was that one of the models based on proxy data used a data grooming algorithm that produced hockey sticks even if you fed in random data.

  9. Tim – I thought the DDT story was widely refuted.

Why are you endorcing a movie you have not seen?

  10. 1)DDT story refuted? What do you mean? The fact that the ban on DDT has led to the countless deaths due to malaria really is without a doubt. Although one of the radical environmentalists interviewed in the film does say it’s worth it because of ‘the birds’…

2)”Why are you endorcing a movie you have not seen?” Um… I have seen it – to quote my post:
“Having watched the film, I can say without any doubt that it is brilliantly produced, funny, moving and very, very powerful. And defiantly worth watching”

  11. Terge:

I’m well aware what Steve’s knockout punch has and hasn’t done- that is, it hasn’t undone the warming of the last hundred years.

however what it’s done is possibly refute this century has been the hottest over the past 2 centuries (approx).

Now that can be viewed any way you want however the old chestnut that this is unprecedented warming historically may have been found to be nonsense.

Carrying that forward and expanding it a little it also means that the fat tail risk alarmists were throwing around may really no longer be valid as there doesn’t seem to be anything in the reconstructed graph (if he is correct) to suggest we’re doomed in 5 years as we’ve reached the tipping point.

Furthermore and this is also very important as it puts into question all the data for every peer reviewed piece in climate science. If he’s cherry picked who else has and if the publisher isn’t as open as the Royal Society was in publishing the raw data why aren’t they?

This is a pretty big story if it’s true.

The “scientist” who is responsible for this has gone on sick leave by the way.

It’s also important as he and a few of his reviewers were at the top of the IPCC structure.

It seems that if it’s true we can now be accustomed to science by lying.

  12. Tim – I thought the DDT story was widely refuted.

The person primarily responsible for peddling the idea that it has been refuted is Tim Lambert (UNSW) who is quite possibly the most dishonest blogger on the web.

He’s been peddling that crap for years like he’s been peddling crap about the Lancet for years too and was even caught doing so recently after the survey had been discredited by Johns Hopkins. He knew of this of course.

Here is the latest example of Lambert being thrown against a velcro wall for dishonestly plugging Lancet.

Look at what Sinclair does with that carcass. At one stage I just couldn’t look any longer as I felt ill. There was blood and guts strewn everywhere.

  13. I still wish it was called “Evil AND Wrong”
Because the climate debate is really about politics and the power of government over individual property rights IMO.
Anyway, I will be watching the movie (haven’t yet).

“There can be no doubt that every single Australian libertarian should be opposed to Penny Wong’s ETS”
    – well lets hope so.

In addition, I have also come across an Aussie lefty blog that escapes my memory claiming that the DDT story was “widely refuted”. It was certainly news to me although I haven’t looked into it much. The blog didn’t actually explain themselves, just made the assertion.
Might be something to look out for.

  14. It was certainly news to me although I haven’t looked into it much. The blog didn’t actually explain themselves, just made the assertion.
Might be something to look out for.

Of course it was. Tim Lambert (UNSW) has been the principle peddler of that dishonesty and will do almost anything to continue the big lie.

He knows if that rock gets lifted out of the swamp it would be bad news for the environmental movement and what they have done.

He’s been a chronic peddler of that lie and has been picked up throughout the left leaning web.

  15. JC – I agree with your latest post on the hockey stick.

Regarding DDT my understanding was that it was banned for agricultural use but it was still permitted for moscito control and that the latter (via malaria) is where the deaths are attributed.

  16. That’s fine Terje I wasn’t trying to hammer you or anything, just setting the record straight about DDT.

Look, we’ll soon know just how important the SteveM finding is, if it does manage to clean up the scamsters and get them out of the public eye then that’s a good thing even if it doesn’t much change the possibility

  17. Tim – I clearly didn’t read your article attentively. Sorry. I think I’m a bit tied lately.

JC – I have a lot of time for Steve McIntyre. I spent a few hours crawling his latest article and associated comments last night. Some might find this odd after such a long time but I’m still making up my mind on AGW.

  18. Terje,

Nothing odd at all and in fact to my mind highly commendable that you remain open minded.

I attended my first conference on AGW in 1992, and I follow the science, politics and sociology daily. If nothing else, reading layman’s analyses like that of Bishop Hill ( above ) have taught me to to be a lot more questioning then I used to be when folk proclaim absolute certainties or moral declarations.

Off topic – I particularly admire the calibre of writing and thought of the lads at ( shameless plug of admiration ).

And nor do I doubt that world will be a different place in 10, 20, 50 years. So indeed best that people keep an open mind and analysing critical issues like the monster that is AGW politics.

Hence, I also thank Tim for his post. The idea that the world knows, cares or will even make a blind bit of difference if Australia ties itself in knots with a GG cap-n-trade scheme/scam is a hubris beyond belief.

I am sure if we actually curtailed our mineral, energy and agricultural exports to North Asia on the back of this, our esteemed customers who pay real money for vital exports might have something to say ( that is a post in itself ).

But in the meantime, if we just chase away our aluminium smelters, steel mills, cement mills and metal refineries to China or elsewhere doubtless there will be quiet appreciation of that brilliant strategy in some corners.

I am in agreement with Barnaby Joyce – this is a long, slow national suicide note.
